We’ve received invitations to participate in TWO fun neighborhood parades on July 4th! The Scripps Ranch Parade is in the morning and the Rancho Bernardo Parade is in the afternoon. You can join us for one, or participate in the “Double Header” and do both! We will present special “Double Header” t-shirts made for all who participate in both parades at the July meeting.
For the Scripps Ranch Parade, we’ll meet at the Entrance to the Navy & Marine Corps Reserve Center on Pomerado Rd, on the east side of the Miramar Rd/Pomerado Rd exit. Plan on being at the meet-up location at 8:45 am. The parade begins a t 10 am and should conclude by noon.
The second parade is in Rancho Bernardo. The invitation comes from Parade Director Myrna De La Pena. She and her Pontiac Solstice are at Main Street America every year.
For the Rancho Bernardo Parade, we will meet-up at Yanni’s Bar & Grill, 12015 Scripps Highlands Dr at 12:45 pm. From there, we will head to the staging area for lunch.
Here is the info on the RB Parade from Myrna:

You would be driving an assigned VIP. You will park your car in a special spot and be admitted to our VIP reception before the parade.
A car entry form for the parade is attached. Please return your form by ASAP. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Our Golden Year”
In the meantime, should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I will respond within 24 hours.
SPECIAL NOTE: We will ONLY provide our 50th Anniversary medallion if you specifically mark “yes” on your entry form.
This is how the day would go:
- You would need to arrive by 1:30 pm at the check-in/parking area for the cars which is at the Windermere Homes & Estates Office parking lot/CVS, located in a shopping center off Bernardo Center Drive.
- You will be provided a lunch and mingle with other drivers and VIPs (including City Officials).
- Parade starts at 3:30 pm sharp and ends around 4:30 pm. After the parade is completely over, the police department will start opening the streets for all you drivers and parade entries to exit the parking lot and go home.
- Therefore, expect to be available from 1:30 to 4:30 pm approx.
- The day before the parade, you will receive via email all the day instructions and your assigned VIP and placement number in the parade.
Of course, we will go have dinner/snacks after the RB Parade.
Please let me know if you plan on attending one or both of the parades. You MUST fill out and send the entry form for the RB Parade to Myrna. Be sure to put “Corvette Owners Club of San Diego member” under the “Special info” section of the form. I hope to see you at both!
