Once again, the COCSD track enthusiasts return to one of our favorite tracks, Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, in Pahrump NV. For a taste of the experience, take a look at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6qYuwsPwAM&t=34s
The event is put on by the Las Vegas Region, Porsche Club of America http://lvs.pca.org/index.htm
Even though this event is put on by a Porsche club, it is open to all makes of cars. A lot of Corvettes attend these events. More information about their program can be found at http://lvs.pca.org/drivered.htm
This event is perfect for anyone who has never driven on a race track, but would like to give it a try. The Porsche club provides FREE INSTRUCTION to new drivers! You will work one-on-one with an instructor. The sessions the students spend on the track will only have other students. So, have no fear of having to keep up with faster, more experienced drivers. For experienced drivers, there are run groups from Novice to Advanced, but you have to take a check out ride with a Porsche club instructor to participate in these groups.
The Porsche club runs the safest and best organized track events I have seen. And, the Spring Mountain facility has some of the best tracks there are.
Because Pahrump is 320 miles from San Diego, we typically drive up on Friday morning. And to avoid Sunday evening traffic from Las Vegas, many stay in town Sunday night.
Where to stay in Pahrump? Many of us have recently rented a cottage at Wine Ridge RV Resort & Cottages https://wineridgervresort.com/ Their rates for a cottage are sometimes less than the hotels. As for hotels, two other options are the Best Western, and the Pahrump Nugget Hotel.
