2025 San Diego International Auto Show

COCSD RETURNS TO THE INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW

COCSD received a last-minute invitation to participate in the 2025 San Diego
International Auto Show at the Convention Center. It was the fifth time the Club was
asked to display members’ Corvettes. Our last display was at the 2019 Auto Show.
Craig Moya quickly assembled thirteen cars representing all eight generations of the
Corvette, giving priority to those that won the popular vote at our Club picnic in
November. The Show ran from Saturday, December 28 through New Year’s Day on
Wednesday.
The display was made up of Larry Hofer’s 1962 fuelie, Rod and Linda Weissenberger’s
’63 split-window coupe, David and Dhani Hamm’s ’64 convertible, Roberta Degener’s
Steel Cities Grey ’71 convertible, Craig Gillam’s 1979 coupe, George and Diane
Dauphine’s ’96 Grand Sport, Vic and Pamela Tortorici’s black ’01 convertible, Dale and
Carol Mastny’s 2001 Z06, John and Amie Garapich’s Monterey Red ’07, Sam Lewis’
2011 Grand Sport convertible, Craig and Maria’s 2017 Grand Sport Collector Edition,
Howard and Terry Kendall’s 2017 Grand Sport coupe, and Gail Carson’s ’23 C8
convertible.
Craig organized three-hour shifts for each of the five days of the event, manned by
COCSD volunteers. Those who participated were asked to represent the Club, answer
any questions about the cars and recruit new members. To get people’s names and
addresses, we offered a raffle to Corvette owners. The winners were drawn at 5 pm on
Wednesday. The Third Prize winners of $25 gift cards are Basil Raffo, Anthony
Bucscher and Pete Halloran. The Second Prize winners of $50 gift cards are James
Novotny and Roberto Venegas. The First Prize $100 gift card winner is Mark Powell.
The winner of the Grand Prize, a free oil change provided by our sponsor, Courtesy
Chevrolet, is Nick Harrington.
The raffle was a big success, as we gathered the names and contact information for
102 prospective new members! Now we need to get busy and reach out to all of them,
inviting them to the January Club meeting and future events.
Thanks to all of the Corvette owners and the display volunteers for making this such a
success! Hopefully, we’ll get more notice next time.
The following pictures are of the display and the cars of our members.
