Virgin Territory Run
On September 19, 2020, twenty-five Corvettes met at the Santo Road Shell Station to begin a journey of 160 miles. Thanks to Tony Pergola who took part in designing this run as well as being lead car for the first time. The run would take the club to a back-country road never traveled in prior club runs, thus the title Virgin Territory. In staying off interstates and major highways, the designers of this run had us taking the best untraveled roads to get to our destination. We quickly got off I 15 just north of Escondido and on to Old Highway 395 past Lawrence Welk’s place to Pala Road and highway CA 76 past Pala Casino. We went north on Temecula Pkwy to Temecula and a restroom break just before Winchester Road.
We then headed east to our destination of highway R3 or State St. which was a twisting long downhill road thru open countryside with great scenery and very little traffic (none would have been better) letting the cars and drivers do their thing on this kind of road. It is a lot of fun being on new roads like this with all the cars of our club together.
The final leg of this journey finished taking the 79 thru Warner Springs and ending at our familiar stop of Dudley’s Bakery.
