Just Below the Snow Line Run

Just Below the Snow Line Run

Sixteen cars signed up for the second club run in March. We promptly took off from Scripps Poway Parkway at 9 AM and up the freeways to San Clemente where we took our first restroom break. Surprisingly, we were greeted with a rather crowded freeway for a Saturday morning and even more crowded parking lot at the Mac Donald’s at 10 AM. From there we went inland to the Ortega Highway over the costal hills east of Lake Elsinore.

From Lake Elsinore we traveled to Hemet where we found a community park for a picnic lunch. Finding indoor dinning under the circumstances of the pandemic not available. Once we made it through Hemet, we found wide open roads. Going up the 74 and by Mt. San Jacinto was a blast. We waited at the top to regroup for those who took the windy road at their pace and proceeded past lake Hemet and thru the pine tree lined road in the high country to the 371 turn off to Anza. There we made our last restroom break at the Cahuilla Indian Casino.

The last leg of our 200-mile journey took us thru Warner Springs, Santa Isabel, and thru Ramona where we stopped at Cheers of Ramona for some fine outdoor food and beverages. In the end, it was a beautiful day for a drive, even if the recent weather only provided us with roads ‘just below the “dusted” snow line”!!!
