We will start at:  [mappress mapid=”17″]

I would like to bring back the Topless Run!  It will be a starting in Imperial Beach (IB) and ending at Mission Bay.  The drive will take us by the many sights of San Diego we take for granted since we live here.  We will start at: 575 Saturn Blvd, San Diego, CA 92154 which is just off Palm Ave on the west side of I5.  Meeting place will be the parking area between Home Depot and Walmart.  Be there no latter then 4:15 PM. We will proceed through IB to the Silver Strand.  There we will pull over to gather back up and proceed to Coronado.  In Coronado we will drive along the beach before turning east and passing in front of the Navy base. We will then go south on First street with views of the bay and downtown.  Once we reach Orange Ave, we will proceed to Third and over the bridge.  Off the bridge we will turn south and take the next exit to 28th St.  (our only freeway time).  From there we will go North on Harbor through Downtown and make a pit stop at Spanish Landing.  After the break (if time allows and a majority approve) we will make a photo op at USS Recruit in Liberty Station.  Once done we will drive to Mission Bay and park near the (now closed) visitor information center.  There we will have a socially distanced picnic dinner and watch the sun set over Mission Bay.

I still have to drive the route and time it out to set the exact start time and get us to the end in time to watch the sun set.  I was unable to time the route today due to holiday weekend traffic and the heat driving everyone to the beach.  Although this is the “Topless” Run, FRCs are welcome.  I plan on passing out a quiz and I have two C7 Coffee Mugs to give away as prizes.

This will be a leisurely drive to take in the sites of San Diego.  Sites to be seen:

  • Silver Strand
  • Coronado beaches and bay
  • Three Navy bases
  • Our beautiful downtown
  • Petco Park and Convention Center
  • San Diego Airport
  • Spanish Landing and San Diego Bay
  • (Possible USS Recruit)
  • Mission Bay

26 September approximately 1630 (4:30 pm for civilians).  After I make the full drive and time out the stops, I will set a firm time.  Sunset on 26 September is 1838 (6:38 pm).
