The Ignite Academy Tour & Fun Run was held on Saturday 7, 2026. This
was a collaboration between the COCSD and The San Diego Automotive
Museum. The Academy is located at their new facility in Santee,
California.
The Ignite Academy at the San Diego Automotive Museum is an
innovative, broadly accessible program designed to work in
collaboration with, and independent of, school-based CTE automotive
programs to introduce students to careers in the automotive industry,
help them connect with professionals in the field, and gain valuable
experience. This is a free program available to high school kids on a first
come, first serve basis.
Nearly twenty Corvettes (30 people) from our club participated in this
inaugural event. At the school, we met instructors and students and
were able to see, firsthand, how the school operated. Later, we were
able to show our cars off to the students. Afterwards, we went on a
short fun run to Santa Ysabel (led by Bob Bearss) where we enjoyed a
great lunch at the Farmhouse 78 restaurant. The highlight of the day
was singing Happy Birthday to Lorin Stewart! Thanks to all who joined
this wonderful event.
